This week we had the great pleasure of sponsoring the DevWorld conference 🤘
Developer conferences are awesome - it’s an excellent opportunity to learn about new solutions, meet fellow nerds, and fill up your sock reserves for the next year or so. But above all else - developer conferences are a great place to listen.
This time, we tried to focus our booth efforts on providing visitors with the empathy any person who writes incredibly complex code deserves - especially if they had to deal with access control.
We honestly didn’t try to sell, scan leads, or set meetings. It was all about learning about what troubles fellow developers when it comes to the complex world of IAM, celebrating the gathering of fellow tech enthusiasts, and handing out some special conference Swag we had made specifically for this occasion ❤️

We can’t wait to see everyone enjoy it. Want one for yourself? Let us know in the comments 💓
Dana Petrov also provided attendees with great-looking illustrations they could take home 👩🎨
But enough about us - here are also some other excellent developer tools we saw at the conference:
ScyllaDB - Did you ever consider how big of a challenge it is for Discord to maintain all their data and messages? The thought of matching the right messages only to the people who should be eligible to read them (authorization anyone?) makes us excited. ScyllaDB is the DB behind Discord and some other enormous big-data products. If you ever find yourself in the need of processing tons of data, make sure to check them out.
Directus - In a data-driven world, Directus is trying to eliminate the hassle of boilerplate code required to develop data-based services. With their innovative approach, they provide an extremely comfortable layer that connects to any database and provides a data-driven CMS in only 10% of the coding you would usually require.
Sentry - Speaking of processing large amounts of data, someone also needs to be in charge of monitoring all that activity, and that’s a job no human can (or should) perform. While there are many monitoring tools out there, the great developer experience that Sentry provides is priceless. If you are looking for an alerting service that helps you sleep better at night, give Sentry a try.
GitButler - While many people believe great developer experience comes from dark-mode CLI tools, the founder of GitHub thinks differently. In one of the most exciting startups in the developer space of 2023, he revealed a new Git client with features for any developer, such as virtual branches and quick commits. We were eager to meet the brave people who admitted Git provides quite a terrible experience and aim to improve it with sophisticated UI tools.
Ubicloud - Looking to break myths, Ubicloud, a YCombinator-funded startup founded in 2023, promises to give you the whole cloud on a silver platter. With their open-source project, they provide a portable elastic cloud provider that you can install on your bare metals. We can think of pros and cons for this method, but for some use cases, it could definitely be very good news for some developers.
Ditto - With portability in mind, we enjoyed meeting the folks from Ditto who are developing a new protocol and tool to create offline connectivity based on peer-to-peer traffic. Ditto makes us think of some very cool potential use cases in creating connectivity for areas that would traditionally be considered offline.
A huge shoutout to all the wonderful people we met at this conference, sponsors, developers, organizers, and all. It was a huge pleasure.
That’s it for this week!
❤️, Daniel.
